I had no idea what to expect as I landed in Hanoi for the first time and was pleased to find an energetic city filled with beauty and history. Beyond Hanoi, I made my way north to Sapa through beautiful landscapes - mountains, rivers, rice terraces and valleys dotted with quaint villages.

The more isolated areas of the northeast are home to many minorities, such as the Red Dzao, Nung, Zay, Hmong and LoLo. Each unique, colorful and intricately embroidered costume, accessorized with handcrafted silver jewelry, identifies the wearer’s tribe.
