ARTIST STATEMENT

Many of the customs and lifestyles of indigenous people from around the world are endangered and disappearing. Portraying their unique identities has been my privilege and my mission since my first trip to South Africa in 1998.

Artistic Journeys was born out of a desire to share our common humanity. Our world is getting smaller and smaller and we are all more alike than we are different. My subjects aren’t just images on canvas - they are real people who have become a part of my memories for a lifetime. I hope that as you look into each face, you will somehow see a reflection of your own.
